Welcome to the Xin Wang research group
We are a research team located at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alabama. We use and develop new electron microscopy-based and in situ nanomechanical techniques to study the behavior of materials under various environmental conditions, including mechanical deformation and extreme temperatures. We seek to gain mechanistic insights and establish connections between the processing, microstructure, properties, and performance of materials. In combination with advanced materials processing methods, our goal is to apply the fundamental knowledge gained to design and synthesize high-performance, durable, more affordable, and sustainable materials for structural and functional applications.
